I read your story in a CA newspaper, and pray for your strength to keep advocating - please, continue to raise awareness! Laws need changed in other states. Peace to you and your family.

Very moving an inspiring story. I was born in 1964 and Bergen County is my home. Joan and I are almost the same age. Out of tragedy often comes hope....this organization is truly a great thing and gives hope to so many.

Joan's death has haunted me for years. I was 9 yrs old at the time and I use to ride my bicycle to valley fair cutting through side streets. After that happened, whenever I was near that house, I thought about that. Joan was my age and I am 49 now. Hopefully that guy never gets out!

For some reason I have been thinking a lot about Joan today. God bless her. I did not personally know her but we lived in the same town - I was two years younger than she. We will always remember Joan. I think of her dear soul often. My love to you and your family and to dear Joan's memory.

Passing on your story Joan to our Girl Scouts here in South Carolina so they too can be kept safe. RIP Sweet Girl Scout. Thank you Kelly for bringing this to our attention so we too can support this amazing cause.

I was 11 years old when this tragedy happened and I still remember it. I did a search on line and found your site. Joan's school picture looks exactly as I remember it 40 years ago on TV and in the newspaper. I never forgot it. I'm glad to learn that her mom is keeping her memory alive in such positive ways. Having 4 daughters of my own, I often found myself telling them the story of the little Girl Scout that was killed delivering cookies to a neighbor. I'm happy to see Joan's memory is being kept alive 40 years later.
