Hello, I am sixteen years old, and I have heard of this case in a book by Dr. Zugibe (do to the fact I am an aspiring Medical Examiner). I just wanted to wright this to say it pains me that you lost Joan at such a young age and I want you to know I have spread your story among local people where I live to people to have an understanding of the things that can happen in places that are thought of as safe. I was about 11yrs old when I first read of Joan’s story in a True Detective magazine my mother had.I was so moved and saddened by the story that I wrote a letter to the family.
I was very surprised to receive a note and obituary card with Joan’s picture and a beautiful poem that I soon memorized.To this day I still think of her every time I see a little Girl Scout and say a prayer for the family.
This site as well as all the work done over all these years is truely a testament to a Mothers undying love.Rosemary…GOD BLESS YOU!!

As a 10 year old boy, I clearly recall following Joan’s story very closely. Today I am a police officer with the NYPD Sex Offender unit and Joan’s story came to mind. I am so glad that there is an organization dedicated to Joan’s memory, and I am very glad donations are being accepted.
